This lovely mask worn by women on ceremonial occasions depict the typical sculptured hairstyle and the scarification pattern on the forehead. They are used by female dancers on stilts at formal traditional celebrations and also funerary rites to invoke the process of reincarnation. Numerous great artists of the early 20th century have incorporated the deign elements of these masks into their own aesthetic. Picasso was the prolific in this genre.
