This lovely warmly patinated Indian chest of drawers is in a colonial European style but the carved detailing of the top and base reflects a typically Eastern love of ornament, restrained as it is. The turned feet are also more Oriental than European in style. It is a practical, robust but elegant piece of furniture, versatile in its use and setting.
